It’s no secret that London is a forever-changing city, especially when it comes to new and exciting food offerings being introduced left, right and centre. With the first half of the year almost gone (where did that time go?!) Here’s a roundup of some of the most exciting and delicious restaurant openings from 2019 so far…

February saw a new face appear on Morning Lane, in the shape of Peg, formerly occupied by the contemporary restaurant, Legs. Peg has been brought to the scene by the masterminds of Clapton pizza joint, P. Franco and will offer a Japanese-inspired menu with an array of delicious sharing dishes and food from a yakitori grill. Another element of this eatery that makes it stand out from the rest lies within its sustainable design; the sleek, speckled and glossy white counter tops have actually been made from thousands of recycled yoghurt pots! Eating good food while supporting the environment – that’s a win win, surely?!

EartH Kitchen

Previously known as Dalston’s Hackney Arts Centre, Evolutionary Arts Hackney (otherwise known as ‘EartH’) opened on Stoke Newington Road in February. Expect to find simple, fail safe dishes on the menu, such as grilled mackerel with beetroot and horseradish to steamed ginger pudding with marmalade and vanilla ice cream…yes please! Introduced to the neighbourhood by the Village Underground team, the outstanding seasonal dishes will be featured alongside special Jazz nights and live DJ sets.

Opening this April on Kingsland Road, Hacha will bring some Mexican flavour into the mix with its extensive list of tequila cocktails and sharing platters: a ceviche trio and Mirror Margarita sounds just up our street! Deano Moncrieffe is the man responsible for bringing this bar to the scene and we couldn’t imagine anybody better for the job, considering he is luxury tequila ambassador for Diageo.
